Purpose

The Hmong Student Association of Carolina (HSAC) is passionate about helping our community and promoting higher education. We are excited for the opportunity to award ONE select individual this year. The HSAC Scholarship will award a qualified students based on their passion to help the community and pursue higher education with a small grant to help them with their educational endeavors.

Criteria for Application

To be eligible to apply for the HSAC Scholarship, candidates must meet ALL of the listed criteria:

  • Be a North Carolina resident
  • Identify as Hmong
  • Be a first-year student within the 2024-2025 academic school year
  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution (can be in North Carolina or an out-of-state institution)
  • Contingent on his or her acceptance to the institution of his or her choice

Requirements

  • 2 Essays
    • 1 short essay (150-250 words)
    • 1 long essay (250-500 words)
  • 1 Letter of Recommendation from a non-family member

Guidelines

The HSAC Scholarship is non-renewable and will be disbursed by early June. The scholarship is contingent on the recipients’ acceptance to the institution of his or her choice by providing a letter of acceptance as confirmation.

Amount

The scholarships awarded will be $500 paid to each of the institutions of the recipients’ choice.

Deadline

The application opens January 3rd, 2024 and the final deadline is March 15th, 2024 at 11:59pm. After this date, applications and recommendation letters will no longer be accepted. The selection committee will use this time to review all submitted entries.

Notification

The final recipient will be notified by email by March 31st, 2024.
